Following on from the Ineke Berlyn workshop it is a requirement of the City and Guilds Syllabus to produce a miniature piece of work. Having struggled with more traditional techniques on a small scale I adopted Ineke’s technique and developed it further. The original pattern was created from a window section taken from the Iron Bridge in Coalbrookdale, Shropshire. In principal shadow appliqué, using recycled florists wrap (polyester spun fibres) for background and dyed conservation tissue with some sheer fabrics. This is area which I hope to develop further for future exhibitions combining using recycled fabrics and the transparent element.
